Capacitors Planar

Below is a list of technical and application notes relevant to Johanson Dielectrics Planar Capacitors.

Title Purpose / Key Insight
Capacitors & Planar Arrays
  • Large & Planar MLCCs Need Special Care – Capacitors larger than 1812 and planar arrays are highly susceptible to thermal shock and micro-cracks during soldering and handling. Damage may not be visible under inspection but can lead to latent failures over time.
  • Controlled Processes Reduce Risk – Use gradual preheat, controlled reflow, and slow cool-down (≤2 °C/sec) to prevent cracking. Handle and package carefully; avoid wave or hand soldering when possible, as these increase the chance of thermal stress damage.
Recommended Storage Conditions - Planars
  • Lists environmental requirements for long-term capacitor storage before assembly.
  • Emphasizes humidity and temperature control to prevent oxidation or degradation.
